Inventors are people that take an idea and bring it to life. This can be a process or a device. Inventors are important because they create things that change how people live their everyday life. Without inventions, the world would probably have never changed. We live in a world where the tools we use are so common, we almost believe we were born with them. Just imagine how much your life would change if you did not have a television, cell phone, internet, light bulb, or vehicle. You would not know what life is. Wright BrothersThe Wright brothers are considered the inventors of the worlds first successful airplane. Like any inventor, the Wright brothers tested several different strategies before their ideas was one that really worked. In face the research suggest that the brothers took more than 2 years to make it work. That means, don't give up. They begin with a glider (a plane without an engine), and progressed to more complex models which were powered by engines.
North Carolina, was the place where the brothers were able to test their glider with privacy. The village they used is known as Kitty Hawk, and the beach there seem to have reasonable conditions to test their experiments. After the glider, they created the first plane with an engine named the Flyer which flew on Decemeber 17, 1903, and in 1908 they added to that by developing a plane that held two people and could fly for a longer period of time. Alexander graham bellCommunication was very limited before the 1800s, and Alexander Graham Bell was an inventor that would break through the limits of letters and very short messages.
Bell expounded on the concept of Samuel Morse, the inventor of the telegraph and Morse Code. Bell's idea changed the dashes of the telegraph through incorporating speakers to create the talking telegraph which is known today as the telephone. Interesting enough Bell's phone was not accepted at first and took a whle for his telephone to catch on and transcended (go beyond the limits of) the way America communicated. thomas edisonThomas Edison was a magnificent inventor. He is responsible for several creations and inventions. Below are some of his more notable inventions.
Thomas Edison was a very smart and he made use of the ideas of earlier inventors to add to and create new things. Edison is credited with creating a carbon filament for the light bulb that would later be further developed for everyday use. This idea was able to change the way people lit their homes from different types of lamps to the use of electricity. Edison didn't just stop with the bulb, but he plowed further ahead by getting investors (people who provide money to help inventors create a product) to help him get develop the first electric company to light up several buildings. This ideas was continually repoduced, and is the first step in to what we know now as electric companies. In addition to the filament, Edison created a phonograph that was useful for recording sound. This led to the ability of musicians to share their music across th globe. Watch the videos below to learn more. Video 1 Video 2 Video 3- Making an Edison Light Bulb |
